I personally think MS will ruin something as "elegant" as yahoo. There's no way they're gonna beat google with MS style of doing business. It just doesnt work that way in the online world, may be they had success with PC, but even that seems to be eroding away. There's has to be "vision-level" changes in MS for it to beat google in the coming years.

May be they should just chuck out Steve Balmer and get some new guy!

I beg to differ. Mircosoft has always delivered enterprise class software for years. Perhaps they are trying to use this expertise in bringing out products to the enterprise and big business instead of normal users which forms the main target of google. MS is just leveraging yahoo's huge presence and talent pool to develop the next generation of enterprise software which rely on the internet? I'm open to your comments and criticisms

think about flickr being revamped in .NET and SQL Server, and all those wonderful PHP code is gone waste.. bad move i guess.. unless the leave the yahoo architecture and doesn't modify anything inside yahoo.. it may bring in some money for yahoo

i would hate if zimbra is closed.. they are a direct competitor for MS Exchange server.. and if they had any clue that this will happen, zimbra inc would have never sold them to Yahoo!!

@ashwinraj!
I dont think MS would even touch flickr or any of the yahoo products. MS understands that these are already highly efficient and that they're already running on the best possbile technologies. This acquisition will be purely to gain a foothold in the Internet domain. I dont think they would revamp any of Yahoo's products using their own technologies

There's a story in the recent section about why Jerry Yang doesnt want this deal to go through.
